Documentaries and interviews highlighted his achievements without any questioning of his failure to follow through his patients’ recovery process but leaving them to death and The Karolinska Institute hid the facts for a long time but as the controversies surrounding his research and conduct emerged, the media also became a platform for exposing the darker aspects of his career.

Newsweek ranks Karolinska as the world’s sixth best hospital and the world’s tenth smartest hospital in 2024. And the ranking is based on four aspects among which are recommendations from a large number of experts in the health care sector, results from patient surveys, quality results, patient reported outcome measures which is for me the most contradictory when it comes to the case of Macchiarini.
It will definitely be a matter of curiosity if the hospital can still maintain its reputation after the increase in bad Surgeon: Love Under The Knife viewing.
