Located between Kaş and Kalkan, Kaputaş Beach is renowned for its crystal-clear, turquoise waters, ranking among the most stunning in the world. The beach is nestled at the end of a narrow valley where steep cliffs meet the sea, making it a true natural wonder. Unlike typical sandy beaches, Kaputaş features a unique blend of sand and pebbles.

The water deepens quickly, and although the sea can be rough at certain times of the day, it offers a pleasant swimming experience for those who are comfortable in the water. However, if you’re not a strong swimmer, it’s best to visit during calmer hours when the waves are gentler. From above, the golden sand and turquoise waters create a breathtaking view that’s sure to leave you mesmerized.

If you’re planning to drive to Kaputaş Beach and stay for several hours, it’s best to arrive early in the day. Parking is available along the roadside, but during the high season, the beach can get crowded every day, with no significant difference between weekdays and weekends. However, if you have flexibility in your schedule, visiting during the quieter off-season or on weekdays can offer a more peaceful experience.

As a naturally formed beach under protection, there are no special elevators or vehicles to take you down to the shore. Expect to navigate quite a few steps to reach the beach. In recent years, a cafe has been added to the area for visitors’ convenience. To improve accessibility without compromising the beach’s natural beauty, some of the steps have been renovated, making the descent feel easier and faster — or maybe it’s just me!

In the past, there were no amenities like sunbeds or showers. The only service was from the women selling gözleme (Turkish flatbread). If you wanted to take a shower, you had to brave the cold water from a natural spring — though I admit, I often skipped that and headed home with the sea salt still on my skin because the climb back up was exhausting. The steps are definitely a workout, but the view and experience are worth it!

My suggestion, and what I personally do, is to visit in the late afternoon, close to sunset. The beach tends to be quieter at this time, and the right side of the beach provides wonderful shade when facing the sea. I don't rent sunbeds, so all you really need is a towel and a bottle of water to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing time at the beach.

Kaputaş Beach is one of the sandy beaches in Kaş, though don’t expect a typical sandy beach. The other major sandy beach nearby is Patara Beach. If you plan to visit, my recommendation is to arrive early in the morning and leave before noon, taking a break for lunch before heading to other nearby coves.

Another option, and one I personally prefer, is to come in the late afternoon, close to sunset. The beach is much quieter at this time, and when you face the sea, the right side of the beach offers perfect shade. I don’t rent sunbeds, so all you need is a towel and a bottle of water to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing time at the beach.

Kaputaş Beach: A Great Spot for Families and Convenience

For families with children, getting to the beach can be a bit challenging due to the abundance of belongings and the need to ensure children’s safety. However, this doesn’t take away from the stunning beauty of the beach, and that’s what makes visiting at different times of the day so special.

Have I mentioned the cafeteria run by the Kaş Municipality on the beach? Having this service available is a great convenience, as it lightens the load of food and drinks you need to bring with you while heading down to the beach. This makes for a much more comfortable beach experience. The shower facilities are also quite sufficient, though be warned, there can be quite a line, no matter what time of day it is!

I’ve provided plenty of details about the features of the beach, and now it’s up to you to come and experience its beauty for yourself.

I’ll wrap up this post by giving a quick note about the prices and offering a little reminder. As we leave this stunning place, let’s not forget to take everything we brought with us. Let’s dispose of our trash properly by using designated bins, and if we can’t find one, we should carry it with us until we do. There’s always a trash bin waiting for us somewhere! 😉

Entrance Fees and Food & Beverage Prices

The entrance fee for the beach is 35 TL. If you’d like to rent a sunbed and umbrella, each is priced at 150 TL. The café prices are as follows:
  • Pizza: 300 TL
  • Coca-Cola: 70 TL
  • Mixed Toast: 250 TL
  • Tuborg Beer: 150 TL
  • Water: 20 TL
  • French Fries: 150 TL

How to go?

The beach, located between Kaş and Kalkan on the Antalya-Fethiye road, can be easily reached by entering the following coordinates into your navigation system. Additionally, I’ve provided a detailed description.

By Car: To reach the beach from Antalya, follow the D400 highway through Kemer and Kumluca, heading towards Kalkan. Once you reach Kalkan, continue towards Kaş, and you’ll arrive at Kaputaş Beach. Don’t worry, you won’t miss it — as you approach, you’ll see parked cars along both sides of the highway. If you visit during hours when there are fewer vehicles, the signs will help guide you as well.

By Bus: There are numerous bus companies with frequent services between Kaş and Kalkan. Travelers can take a bus to either Kaş or Kalkan and then walk a short distance to the beach or take a minibus that will take them directly to Kaputaş Beach.
