When I think of the Mediterranean as a Turkish citizen, Antalya comes to my mind first and Kaş is the next place that pops up. Kaş is such a unique place that everytime I visit, I experience different feelings and discover new things which is one of the reasons Kaş becomes even more special to me every year.

Located between Fethiye and Demre, it initially captivates me with the deep blue of its sea, a paradise-like place. You might think the sea is blue anyway. But there is a special color known as Kaş blue that you can only see in Kaş. Wherever you go in Kaş the clarity of the sea remains the same. There are many bays that are accessible by car, while others can only be reached by boat. Kaş, with its beaches and bays, offers a perfect nature waiting to be discovered by those who have different tastes. So, it’s a perfect spot for vacationers and curious travelers.

Kaş Beaches and COves

If you are visiting Kaş for the first time, it will be useful for you to know that there are very few sandy beaches here, you’ll mostly use pebbly or rocky beaches or platforms to enter the sea. The stones are not really sharp or pointed, but I recommend using water shoes for a more comfortable swimming experience. If you’re entering the sea near the rocks, you should definitely use a snorkel to enjoy watching the fish and marine life. Don’t be discouraged by what I’ve described; there are sandy beaches as well.

One more important reminder for those coming to Kaş: to leave here satisfied, plan your holiday well according to how long you’ll stay in Kaş considering your expectations. Do a little research on access to coves and beaches, parking if you’re coming by a car (which I strongly recommend to do so), and which beaches are suitable for you if you’re coming with your children. I’ve covered these topics in my other Kaş articles too, which you can also check out.

1- KAPUTAŞ PLAJI

Kaputaş, located between Kaş and Kalkan, is one of the top beaches in the world with its clear, turquoise waters. This natural beach is situated at the end of a narrow valley where high cliffs meet the sea. Unlike typical sandy beaches, it has a mixture of sand and pebbles. The sea deepens suddenly and can be wavy at certain times of the day, but the waves are not bothersome for swimmers; in fact, they provide an enjoyable swimming experience. However, for non-swimmers, it is better to enter the water during calmer times. The view from above, with the golden sand and turquoise sea, is mesmerizing…. Kaputaş Beach Prices>>>

LITTLE PEBBLE BEACH (KÜÇÜK ÇAKIL PLAJI)

The public, free Little Pebble Beach is the only cove that can be reached on foot from the center of Kaş and is the closest to the town center. The small pebbles on the seabed give this beach its name, and it can be considered the smallest beach in Kaş. Although it’s commonly known as Küçük Çakıl Beach among locals, it doesn’t quite fit the description of a beach or a cove. This small area, nestled between rocks similar to Kaputaş, can make you feel like you’re entering through a canyon mouth. Since it’s nestled between rocks, the sea can be seasonally cold. Although its proximity to the center is an advantage, access to the beach is via stairs, keep this in mind. Little Pebble Beach is flanked by two beach clubs; Çınarlar and Derya and you enter the sea from wooden platforms placed on the rocks. If you’re staying at a hotel in the center and want to swim close by without spending too much time looking for a place to eat afterward, this spot may be suitable for you.

Suitable for:

It is ideal for those staying in the center who don’t want to deal with transportation or parking issues and can walk there. If you like small, narrow beaches, it’s perfect for you. Families with children can also go. If you don’t have problems with stairs, it’s a good choice. Those who enjoy music and entertainment can spend their day at one of the beaches Derya and Çınarlar.

Not Suitable for:

If you are coming to Kaş to discover different, less-known coves and want to stay away from crowds, and if you enjoy driving from cove to cove, this place might not interest you. If you have problems with stairs or dislike them, there are more suitable beaches and coves for you. If you don’t like music, it’s also not suitable. If you prefer wide and long beaches where you can swim and then take a walk at sunset, this place isn’t for you.
